For hundreds of years, humans have had a significant impact on the environment. While it’s not possible to eliminate the effect, it is possible to reduce it and stop doing as much damage to the world we live in.

Living sustainably lessens the impact on the environment, and there is a lot each person can do to live a more sustainable lifestyle.

Purchase Sustainable Products

Buy products that are sustainably made and that are going to last longer. When buying suede shoes, choose to focus on quality, as high-quality products will last longer. The longer shoes and other products last, the longer it will be before they need to be thrown away and replaced.

Opt for Sustainable Transportation

Instead of driving, use more sustainable transportation when possible. Even if it’s not possible to give up the car completely, when it is feasible, take the bus, walk, or ride a bike. When buying a bike, save money and help reduce waste by purchasing a used one to use.

Walking is perfect for shorter trips when the weather is nice, and it’s even possible to save money with public transportation by getting a monthly pass instead of paying each time you go.

Choose Reusable Cups

There’s no need to get a new cup every time you have a drink. Whether you’re using Oteas loose leaf green tea blends to make a delicious drink before you head out or just want something to sip on at home, use a reusable cup.

They can even be filled in many places, so you can use a reusable cup when you’re out and about. Reusable straws are also available, so you don’t have to get a new plastic straw with every drink.

Use Resources Carefully

Reduce, reuse and recycle. Use all resources carefully by reducing what is purchased or the packaging, if possible. Bring reusable bags when shopping to avoid having to bring home paper or plastic bags that will just get thrown away.

Reuse items if they can’t be recycled, so you get as much use from them as possible, and recycle as much as you can. If an item cannot be recycled, see if someone else might need it or if it can be upcycled instead of thrown away.

Shop Sustainably

Shopping can be done more sustainably. Thrift stores are an excellent way to purchase used products that still have a lot of life left in them. For groceries, try out a zero-waste grocery store.

Many of these allow customers to bring their own packaging, which means groceries are already in glass or other containers that are easy to reuse when they’re emptied.

Living a more sustainable life can be done step by step. It doesn’t take a lot to get started, and just doing one or two things can be a great start. More can always be done later.

Use the tips here to start living a more sustainable lifestyle today and to see how much more you can do in the future. Every little bit helps.
