Luffy’s parents are Monkey D. Dragon and unknown. His grandfather is Gorilla D. Garp. Luffy was raised by his grandfather and didn’t know who his parents were until he was 10 years old when his sister, Sabo, told him the truth about their parents.

While Luffy was happy to finally know who his parents were, he wasn’t able to meet them due to their line of work.

We don’t know who Luffy’s parents are, and that’s just how Oda wants it. He’s said that he has no intention of ever revealing them, because it would take away from the character. And really, can you imagine Luffy with parents?

It just doesn’t seem right. Luffy is the product of a loving relationship between two people who were completely different from each other. His mother was a beautiful woman who loved to sing, and his father was a rough-and-tumble man who loved to fight.

They met one day when his father saved her from a group of pirates, and they fell in love instantly. Sadly, we never got to see much of their relationship, as Luffy’s mother died when he was very young. His father soon followed suit, leaving Luffy all alone in the world.

But even though they’re gone, they’ve left a lasting impression on their son. Luffy is determined to become the Pirate King, just like his father wanted, and he’ll stop at nothing to achieve his dream. So while we may never know who Luffy’s parents are, we know that they’re responsible for making him the amazing person he is today.
