You are also likely going to bed much earlier and spending less time walking up and down the mall or browsing stores online. However, when the weekend comes, you have a lot more temptation that can cause you to increase spending. This is generally when your social life takes center stage and you are tempted to spend the money you got from payday.

See what your local community has to offer for free. It could be free recreational sports meetups, local festivals, or even free drive-in movies at your local town square. Try to figure out various things that you can do and participate in without spending anything. Your local community college may even have plays they are offering to the community. These events are typically either free or very low cost.
You can check out what’s free around the town on community billboards, online at forums, or even by looking at your city’s website. Conducting a Google search of your city and adding “free activities” will always turn something up.
3. Stop Spending So Much On Food
The fact is, eating out at restaurants can get very expensive. However, that doesn’t mean you have to stop eating out entirely. There are plenty of ways to save money on your food budget. Only frequent restaurants when they are having specials or deals. Try to go to restaurants where they serve less expensive food. Typically, for restaurants, lunch will be much less expensive than dinner.
If you must eat out at restaurants on the weekends, you can save money on your bills by avoiding overpriced beverages. You can also save by avoiding appetizers. You can even save money by getting discounted gift cards and using them to pay for your food.
However, the single best way to save money on your food bill on weekends is by cooking at home. If you have nothing to do one day, you can always visit your local farmer’s market and acquire fresh ingredients that you can use in your home-cooked meals. Try to learn new culinary skills. Watch YouTube videos and make them a learning experience.
This can be a low-cost activity that keeps you busy on the weekends that subsequently saves you more money by avoiding eating out. If you are worried about having an expensive grocery bill, you could always invite your friends over and have a potluck where everyone brings their dish.
4. Enjoy Having Downtime
So many people think they always need to be doing something. When is the last time you stayed in on the weekends and just had a chill night with your friends or family? It could be something as simple as having in-depth conversations or playing board games.
