New Year, New You: Weight Loss Plateaus- HELP!!!!

I am in need of some TLC. I have not lost one pound in the last 3 weeks. Ok, so one week I was happy to maintain, but now I am at a standstill.  I have lost 23 lbs in 8 months (starting at 6 weeks after the birth of my third) and have about 9 or so more to go. I have hit a plateau after each of my bab's birth and know it will pass, it's just so discouraging.

I need suggestions! What do you do to get through a weight loss plateau?

My New Year's Resolution was to change my life style and not emphasize on slashing crazy calories. I currently exercise 4-5 days a week with 3 days of weightlifting. My Top Ten Tuesdays Post on exercise gives you an idea on what I love to do.

It's really bumming me out!

Describe a time in your life when you were at your "happy weight".

I was about 120 lbs and in college.  I was fit, trim and happy. I am your typically pear shape and embrace it rather than fight it. 120 lbs was always a comfortable weight for me. I would love to see that weight again, but know that age and birth may not allow me to be the same (tear, tear).

  1. not to be the bearer of bad news but one thing I learned at WW is that plateaus can last up to 6 weeks...and it's not consisdered one until it's been like 3 or 4...
that being said if you're doing the same exercise routine and/or eating the same foods you may need to shake it up a bit. Your body is so used to what you've been doing these past few months that it's just not working anymore. Sucks, huh? I know! And I have no idea what you look like, but for me I know that after 4 c sections I'll never get exactly down to the weight I was only because I have all that extra belly flab hanging over my scar and scar tissue (paints a lovely picture? no? oh.)
But you're doing great! 9 pounds left is nothing, when you get down to those little numbers, that's when it takes the longest...you just don't have much fat left and your body may be holding onto it for dear life!
Okay, I babbled enough...I hope I was encouraging...or at the very least not annoying!
    You can do it!

  2. Is there any particular food or drink that could be holding you back? Like I drink mountain dew and I know if I quit I could lose even more weight. But its a bad habit for me I haven't been able to give up :/

Don't give up! You'll get there! :) Thanks for linking up!

  3. hang in there...we've all been there before :)

There's no trick to this, unfortunately. I usually try to take a day and exercise SO hard(like 2-3hrs), eat super healthy(around 1,000cals) and it seems to jump start my weight-loss again! Sometimes, drinking 2 glasses of water with lemon does the trick, to reduce the bloating! See if that helps and GOOD LUCK, HANG IN THERE!!!

  4. You ladies are simply the best! I have hit plateaus before, I just played the waiting game to get through it. The last time I lost weight it lasted 2 months long!
I just signed up for Zumba classes in hopes to shake some things up and looking at it I tend to eat the same darn thing everyday. Creatures of habit- huh!
I try not to slash my calories too much though. I had a bad time with this as a
teenager so I try to be sensible about it.

Thank you so much for your feedback thus far!

  5. I'm feeling you on this one. I'm totally at a plateau right now. I'm choosing to accept my weight as it is and focus on strength training and toning. This means that right now, I'm gauging my success on how my clothes fit rather than the number on the scale.
